There are some fabulous lakes within a reasonable drive from the city of Kingman. Just 45 minutes away are three major lakes including Lake Havasu, Lake Mohave and Lake Mead making it a great place for fishing.

The lakes offer some of the best sport fishing in the country and offer an open season on all species of fish year-round. Largemouth bass, rainbow trout, striped bass, channel catfish, black crappie and bluegill are all popular catches.

Lake Havasu is 45 miles long and is a Colorado River reservoir that was created when the Parker Dam was completed in 1938. It is a desert lake surrounded by cliff walls and is a popular boating destination.

Lake Mohave is a large, elongated lake located within the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. The lake is situated in a desert environment along the border between Arizona and Nevada.

Lake Mead is part of the Lake Mead National Recreation Area and with 1.5 million acres in the 3,000 square miles, it is twice the size of Rhode Island and offers a wealth of things to do and places to go year-round. The lake occupies about 13% of the total area of the park, and caters to boaters, swimmers, sunbathers, and fishermen.

Lake Powell is huge, 186 miles long and has almost 2,000 miles of shoreline that begs for exploration, longer than the whole western coast of the continental United States.

A valid Arizona fishing license is required for Arizona resident and non-resident anglers 10 years of age or older fishing any public accessible water in Arizona. Youth under the age of 10 and blind residents do not need to purchase a state fishing license to fish in Arizona. Check the Arizona Fishing Regulations for additional information.

Nevada and Arizona share jurisdiction over Lake Mead and Lake Mohave. To fish from shore, you need a state fishing license. If you fish from a boat, you are required to have a license from one state and a special use stamp from the other.
